Reminder for Sony customers: Reader Store closing March 20, 2014

Here is a reminder from Sony for their customers:

Dear Reader Store customer:

Reader Store will be closing tomorrow, March 20, 2014 at 6 p.m. (EST). Although we are sorry to say goodbye, we are confident that the transition to Kobo will allow you to continue to enjoy a high quality e-reading experience.

Migrating to Kobo
In the next few days, you will receive a notification from us with a link that will allow you to transfer your library to Kobo. Whether you are new to Kobo or already have an account, you’ll be able to transfer your Reader Store eBooks to your Kobo account so you’ll continue to have access to them in the future. Plus, any existing Reader Store credits you might still have in your account will transfer to your Kobo account to use at the Kobo Store. And of course, you can continue to use your Sony Reader to read eBooks from Kobo.

Please note that any pre-ordered eBooks that will not be available until after our store closure will not be fulfilled or transferred to Kobo, and your pre-order has been cancelled.

We are fully committed to helping you through this exciting transition to Kobo. With the Kobo Store, you’ll have more than 4 million of the world’s best eBooks, magazines, comics, and kids’ titles at your fingertips.

We want to thank you for being such loyal customers, a part of our reading family, and for your continued support as we work to complete this transition. It has been a pleasure reading with you!

I don’t shop Sony at all. They are one of the most money-hungry corporations out there. I’m a video gamer. My kids who are now 39 and 40 taught me when Zelda came out years ago. Sony’s entertainment division is selling The PS4 for $500. Then, you pay them a monthly subscription to play games.

I saw a story on AJAM the other day: Vinyl record sales have climbed to a 2002 level. Generation-Xers are discovering the joy of owning a physical copy!

Are you seeing robins and bluebirds yet?

  2. Hi Mikey2ct!

    Happy Spring!!

omg! The return of the record? That’s awesome!! I love them. So easy to use! As to Sony, I hear you. I bought a Sony e-reader years back and it died conveniently a short time after the warranty was over. The e-reader was sooooo expensive, but I bought it because of the name as I had thought it was good quality. 😦
No robins or blue jays yet. But the black squirrels are out and about. And I saw a couple of doves the other day in the backyard apple tree. They were lying low over the winter and we hardly saw them, but now they are out every day. Crossing my fingers the real Spring arrives SOON!!
